KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1, 2016:
“Welcome to our club,” said Selangor state assembly speaker Hannah Yeoh to former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who was prevented from speaking at a sports event at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan USJ4 yesterday.
She hoped what happened to Muhyiddin would serve as a lesson because he did the same to members of the Opposition when he was Education Minister.
“Pakatan Harapan has faced such injustice since 2008.
“Until now, as Subang Jaya assemblyman, I am still not allowed to attend school functions. If I want to contribute to schools, I need to do so from outside the schools’ fences,” she said through her Facebook page yesterday.
At the same time, Yeoh hoped that all schools would be free of all agendas including political control.
“I hope they realise that schools cannot be used as political tools and I reiterate our stand to free schools from political stronghold,” she added.
Yesterday, Muhyiddin was prohibited from speaking at the launch of the youth community football league at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan USJ4.
He was informed by the school’s authorities that they had received instructions from certain quarters to order organisers to disallow him from giving a speech.
“It’s okay, I already expected such a matter to happen. Although I did not speak, I managed to meet with guests present before going home,” he expressed through his social media page.
