KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1, 2016:
PAS wants the Kedah Menteri Besar crisis to be resolved soon and democratically, pointing out that the state assembly should decide who would make the best Menteri Besar.
Reading from a statement issued by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, his deputy Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said this would be a democratic practice that would represent the voice of the people.
“PAS urges that this problem at the Kedah leadership level be resolved immediately following democratic practice.
“PAS holds on to the law and democratic principles in resolving any problem that faces the states and the country,” the deputy president read out at a Press conference held at the PAS headquarters today.
Abdul Hadi was not present at the Press conference that was called this afternoon following a leadership meeting held today.
Also present at the Press conference was PAS election director Mustafa Ali who added that the Menteri Besar should be someone who is trusted and commanded support from the majority.
“And the test of majority is the state assembly,” he said.
Kedah Umno leaders are seeking to oust current Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
With his possible replacement being a guessing game, the Kedah Regency Council reportedly requested to meet with all the state assemblymen to resolve the crisis.
English daily The Star reported that the Council would meet them individually before reaching a final solution.
