SIBU, Jan 31, 2016:
Sarawakians must translate the strong faith and good feelings they have for Chief minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem into votes come the 11th Sarawak state election expected to be in April this year.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Adenan was continuing on with the good leadership inherited from the state’s past leaders.
“I know Adenan is a very popular leader because of his speeches and hand-on approaches in dealing with issues affecting the people in the state.
“Come the state election, all Sarawakians should come together as one in giving him their fullest support so that he can stay on to helm the government,” he said at a press conference after ending his two-day working visit here today.
“That was why in places where I had meet-the-people sessions I had called on them to continue to support the current government led by a very people-centric leader,” he added.
On the controversy surrounding Adenan’s suggestion on the dates for nomination and polling in an informal talk with some Election Commission (EC) officers recently, Ahmad Zahid said as the state Barisan Nasional (BN) chief, he was only making a suggestion.
But the opposition had accused him of dictating to the commission.
“The final decision with regards to both dates is only exclusive to the commission.
“There is no doubt on this,” Ahmad Zahid added.
