ALOR STAR, Jan 31, 2016:
Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said he would not be present at the meeting expected tomorrow between the state’s assemblymen and the Kedah Regency Council.
Earlier, Bernama in quoting an assemblymen who refused to be named, said he had received a message to be present at the Wisma Darul Aman tomorrow for the meeting.
When met at the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, near here, today, Mukhriz told reporters that he would be at the Wisma, however, he would not be attending the meeting.
“The meeting is not with me, it’s between the assemblymen and the council,” he said, adding that it was possible that the council wanted to hear from the assemblymen themselves if they shared the same stand as had been announced in the Press conference on Jan 20.
“If I’m there, maybe just for a while, but I will meet (the council) in person, I won’t be in the meeting,” Mukhriz said.
When asked if it was possible an announcement pertaining to his post would be made after the meeting, Mukhriz merely said that there were so many claims being made that he did not know what to believe.
The Kedah Menteri Besar crisis began following the Jan 20 Press conference led by Kedah Umno deputy liaison chairman Datuk Bashah Md Hanipah who had announced a majority of the party’s leaders in the state had lost confidence in Mukhriz’s leadership.
At the airport, Mukhriz’s arrival was greeted by some 100 supporters.
