PETALING JAYA, Jan 27, 2016:

National toll operator, PLUS Expressways Bhd will be offering a 30% toll rebate on Feb 4, 11 and 15 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year holidays this year.

However, the rebate will only benefit those plying the North-South Expressway, the ELITE highway and the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) for long distance travel of more than 100km and paying toll electronically.

PLUS managing director, Datuk Noorizah Abd Hamid said the 30% toll rebate would be given to Class 1 highway users (light vehicles with 2 axles and 3 or 4 wheels except taxis).

“For the public to benefit from the rebate, they must travel more than 100km and pay toll electronically via PLUSMiles card, Touch ‘n Go card or SmartTAG) on the three days,” she said in a statement today.

Noorizah said motorists paying toll electronically would still be required to pay the full toll charges on Feb 4, 11 and 15.

However, she said the 30% toll rebate (in a form of toll reload) can be redeemed at all PLUS customer service centres between March 15 and June 14 this year.

For example, a highway user travelling between Jalan Duta Toll Plaza and Ipoh Selatan Toll Plaza will be able to save RM7.95 in the form of a toll reload.

The toll rebate is being given so that PLUS Expressways Bhd can celebrate Chinese New Year with highway users.

Noorizah explained that the rebate is offered to users travelling on off-peak days and is aimed at helping to distribute traffic.

“It is also an effort to encourage the public to switch to the electronic toll payment system which is easier and faster.

“The toll rebate can be enjoyed throughout the day on the above dates and is not restricted to a particular time frame,” she said.

PLUS anticipates that traffic on the N-S Expressway will increase by 20% to 1.6 million vehicles per day on peak days on Feb 5, 6, 7, 9, 13 and 14.

“As such, we are also issuing a Travel Time Advisory (TTA) to help the public plan their journey and avoid traffic congestion on peak days during the holidays,” Noorizah said.
