KOTA KINABALU, Jan 27, 2016:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be tabling the Attorney-General’s decision to close investigations on the RM2.6 billion donation issue at the Operations Evaluation Panel (PPO) soon.
The decision was made following a special meeting held by the top management of MACC today following Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali’s recent statement clearing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak of any wrongdoing over the alleged large amount of cash in his bank account.
In a statement, MACC disclosed that it would be tabling the A-G’s decision to PPO for evaluation and consideration by its members and another special panel to be set up soon.
PPO is an independent body set up by the government to monitor the MACC under the MACC Act 2009.
One of the terms of references of the PPO is to share its views on action that should be taken on cases that are not charged by the Public Prosecutor.
Those on the panel are Tan Sri Dr Hamid Bugo, as chairman, Tan Sri Jawhar Hassan, Datuk Zamani Abdul Ghani, Datuk Azizah Arshad, Datuk Wan Abdul Wahab Abdullah, Profesor Dr Normah Omar, Dr Sundramoorthy M. Pathmanathan and Tuan Lim Chee Wee.
