KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27, 2016:
Public Service Department (PSD) director-general Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal has called on civil servants to have integrity in carrying out their duties.
He said this is important to prevent any negative perception by the public against the civil service.
“The government have taken many initiatives to ensure the integrity remains.
“We hope they understand their responsibilities, they need to carry out their duties well,” he told reporters after attending a gathering of some 1,300 civil servants at the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Convention Centre here today.
At the same, time he reiterated that there would be no pay cut for civil servants.
“We won’t cut the salaries and there is no pay cut, so don’t worry about the rumours,” he said.
He said the government will evaluate on the salaries when the economy is stronger.
At the same time, the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) said it won’t pressure the government for a salary adjustment.
“We understand that the economy is not doing that well now,” Cuepacs president Datuk Azih Muda said.
