ALOR STAR, Jan 27, 2016:
All state government employees have been asked to continue their work as usual despite the political crisis facing Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
According to state secretary Datuk Bakar Din, the Kedah state administration must go on as usual without being affected by the conflict.
He reiterated this during a Press conference held at Wisma Darul Aman today and stressed the state government duties must be carried out as usual without interruption.
“With the looming uncertainty, I would ask that all state administrative machinery involving state employees, whether public service servants or political appointees, to continue with their duties without interruption,” he said.
At the same time, he called on all public servants, be it at the federal or state level, to play their roles in ensuring that the administration runs smoothly.
Thus, civil servants in Kedah were prohibited from making any statement relating to the political upheaval in the state, he said.
“I also call on government employees not to engage in this debate openly.
“They must understand the function and role of public servants. Political issues and problems should not be a reason for the state government to face problems in running the state,” he added.
Kedah Umno deputy liaison chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah recently confirmed that the state’s Umno leaders had prepared a memorandum demanding for the removal of its Menteri Besar.
Mukhriz, said to be in the centre of the fight between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, had stated that as long as there was life in his body, he would continue to fight for the rakyat.
