KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26, 2016:
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali has to explain issues raised pertaining to the RM2.6 billion donation and SRC International.
In saying this, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek expressed his confidence that the A-G would be able to do so as the rakyat needed an explanation over the latter’s decision.
Ahmad Shabery said it was the A-G’s responsibility to provide explanations should any issue arise because the rakyat wanted to comprehend the matter.
“If there is any dissatisfaction, I believe the A-G would be able to explain it comprehensively, with more data,” he told the reporters at the lobby of the Parliament today, when asked to comment on the people’s doubt over Apandi’s statement today.
He said this when asked to comment if the rakyat would feel doubtful with Mohamed Apandi’s announcement today, clearing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak of any criminal offences with regards to the RM2.6 billion political donation and the link with SRC International.
Ahmad Shabery further explained what the government was doing was meant to show their commitment in evaluating the pros and cons of an issue.
“Like what we do in Parliament, because the Parliament is a reflection of what the rakyat wants in a country that practices the parliamentary system,” he said, explaining that everyone should have faith in what was explained as being the truth which follows the legal system in practice.
“Therefore, if there are any matters overlapping with the party funds (tabung party), if there is a need for special laws for an individual to manage the funds, then the matter can be brought to the Parliament to ensure the country has a clear system,” he said.
