KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26, 2016:Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAS) finally bid its goodbye to Amsterdam and Paris as Flights MH19 and MH21 took off from Schiphol International Airport and Charles De Gaulle Airport, respectively, for the last time. MH19 left Schiphol late yesterday afternoon, while MH21 departed Charles De Gaulle several hours ago. On social media, netizens started sharing their thoughts and emotions about it as one Swedish internet-based live flight tracker called FlightRadar 24, shared pictures of MH19 and MH21 flight map routes and flight schedule on its official Twitter page. Netherlands-based newsportal NL Times carried a report on the last flight out of Schiphol after being active on the route for 35 years. Twitter user Doron Sajet shared a photograph of MH19 at the gate via his tweethandle @dsajet. “Last picture of MH19 at the gate,” wrote one Twitter user, @r0eland while posting a picture of the plane. “Too bad… Never get to go to Amsterdam or Paris or LAX,” wrote another Twitter user @CreeperTerror. There were also those who were left in the dark as to why MAS had stopped their services in Amsterdam. “Final? Has the AMS – KUL route been stopped?” wrote one netizen @Bigwasp80. “Wait what does it mean by final? Last of the last till further notice?” wrote another netizen @reuelfoo. In Dec 2015, MAS declared that they are cutting back on routes and withdrawing from several European countries due to financial issues. It was also reported that the airline has signed a code share deal with Emirates to expand their partnership which allows Malaysian customers to book European routes.
