KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26, 2016:A Malaysian student is reported to have died after he was hit by an underground (tube) train in London near the Marble Arch station. The news of the accident was published by several UK based portals, however there was no mention of the identity of the victim. Buletin TV3’s London correspondent Haliza Hashim in sharing a screenshot of the news report by Evening Standard, wrote on Twitter, “Innalillah…a final year Malaysian student hit by a train in London.” Meanwhile, Buletin TV3 on its Facebook page in carrying an article on the incident, stated that the victim’s name was Muhamad Aaron Maseri, a 22-year-old student at the Middlesex University. Muhamad Aaron is said to be in his final year of studies. However, at press time, The Rakyat Post could not immediately verify the victim’s identity, as a spokesperson from the Foreign Affairs Ministry said they were still waiting for confirmation on the matter. Following the incident, the Evening Standard reported that the tube train’s central line was partly suspended. London Fire Brigade and ambulance were rushed to the Marble Arch station, which was in central London, at 6.26pm local time yesterday. The news agency reported that the victim was still alive when emergency services arrived, but he was later pronounced dead. “The death was not being treated as suspicious,” the agency quoted British Transport Police as saying. Several netizens had taken to social media to express their condolences to the victim, as per the name identified by Buletin TV3. Facebook user Aiman Amri said he was shocked to learned of Muhamad Aaron’s death eventhough he did not know the victim personally. Twitter user @fdhlinalyn wrote, “God surely love him more, rest in peace my cousin @aaronmaseri. Al-fatihah.’ Last week, three Malaysian students died in an accident in Jordan, while another in France passed away following injuries sustained in a skiing accident in Nice.
