KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25, 2016:

A video of an alleged incident of child abuse is making its rounds on social media. However, various people have pointed out that the incident happened in Brunei.

The 3-minute long video showed the victim being tied up and abused by a man. It went viral on WhatsApp as well as other social media platforms yesterday.

R. Sri Sanjeevan. of the Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force, also shared the video on his Facebook, stating that after looking into it, he found out that the incident happened in Brunei.

A statement, purportedly released by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) acting head of public relations Asst Superintendent Mohamad Noor Abdul Rahman, is also being shared on social media of the incident.

At press time, it could not be verified if the statement was legitimate.
