KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21, 2016:
Former police Special Action Unit (UTK) member Sirul Azhar Umar, who was found guilty in the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu, claimed he was still being contacted by certain parties.
Sirul revealed the matter in a video recording that lasted two minutes and fifty seconds, which had been spreading through WhatsApp.
According to Sirul, the parties continue to do so even after his lawyer, Datuk Kamarul Hisham Kamaruddin, had raised the matter.
“I want to clarify and to comment further on the press release made by Kamarul Hisham and Hasna Rezua Merican.
“After the statement was made, a few days later there were still a number of parties who contacted me,” he said in the video.
Sirul had previously fled to Australia after a federal court here ruled him guilty of murdering the Mongolian.
Sirul added that he was not interested in the offers made and will focus solely on his application to stay in Australia.
“I want to make it clear. I’m not interested in making any statements after this.
“As we all know, Kamarul Hisham has said that certain matters such as immigration and legal process are taking place and that would require my attention,” he said.
