NEW YORK, Jan 19, 2016: A Sikh man along with his three friends have filed a US$9 million (RM39.3 million) suit against American Airlines for kicking them out from a flight. CNN said Shan Anand, a Sikh, claimed his appearance and that of his friends made the captain uneasy and he was booted out. He and his three other friends, Faimul Alam, a Bangladeshi Muslim and an Arab Muslim, were all young US citizens. The incident was supposed to have occurred on a flight from Toronto to New York last month. All four men were allowed to board a subsequent flight after that flight’s captain allowed them to board, the lawsuit said. The four men are seeking damages, alleging the airline “disgracefully engaged in the discrimination … based on their perceived race, colour, ethnicity, alienage and/or national origin”, the lawsuit read. The flight was operated by Republic Airways, a regional partner of American Airlines. Read more:http://edition.cnn.com/2016/01/18/us/muslims-sikh-sue-airline/index.html
