KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16, 2016:
Following the country’s security level being placed at the highest level after the bombings in Jakarta, all district police chiefs in Selangor are instructed to increase security checks in their areas.
State police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said this would involve areas that attract high traffic such as shopping malls, entertainment outlets, tourist spots, important targets, exit and entry points at the three airports; KL International Airport (KLIA), klia2 and the Subang Sky Park airport as well as ports, jetties and other necessary locations.
“Selangor police are serious in ensuring that the safety of the public is guaranteed.
“All officers and police personnel are ready to combat any threat from any terrorist group,” he added.
Meanwhile, Abdul Samah asked the public to cooperate with the police should they have any information regarding suspicious activities, be it by an individual or groups, that appear to hint of terrorist activities in their respective areas.
They are advised to make contact with the nearest police station.
Apart from that, Abdul Samah urged the public not to panic as the security situation in Selangor was under control.
“Police would like to remind everyone not to share unverified information or false news with regards to security situation, be it through social media or any other medium to avoid facing legal action.
