PETALING JAYA, Jan 8, 2016:
Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was advised to review his decision on having a sole supplier at the Mara Digital Mall.
Kelana Jaya Member of Parliament Wong Chen recommended the use of market forces by opening the mall up to multiple suppliers to ensure businesses stay competitive.
He said that a sole supplier does not create a balanced market as it is a monopoly.
“A monopoly will not withstand this sector where customers should be able to have choices.
“I am unsure if Ismail made the right decision here, but he can always review his decision.
“If he really wants to help Bumiputras, open it up to more suppliers and let the market decide,” he said when met at the PKR headquarters here today.
Ismail had stated he wanted to have a sole supplier at the mall in order to sell only original products.
