KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8, 2016:
An alleged ”Queen Mother” was picked up by Malacca police yesterday along with her husband, both in their 40s.
The woman was said to have claimed as being a ”Bonda Ratu” (queen mother) with police launching an investigation after receiving reports from the public who received invitation to an unrecognised ceremony set to take place in Sungai Rambai, Malacca tomorrow.
According to Bernama, the invite was for an awards ceremony for the ”Salasilah Keturunan Raja Tiang Bongkok Kesultanan Alam Kerinchi Tinggi Nan Sakti”.
The national news agency quoted Jasin district police chief DSP Sampornak Ismail as saying that police had suspected something was amiss with the ceremony and formed a task force to investigate.
A raid had also been conducted at the suspect’s house and several equipment seized.
People are advised not to attend the ceremony, said Sampornak, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 419 of the Penal Code for cheating by way of impersonation, and urged anyone with information about the case to contact the police.
