KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6, 2016:
Normal check-in baggage allowance has been restored to flights to Amsterdam, London and Paris, confirmed Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) today.
“Normal baggage allowance on Malaysia Airlines’ flights to London, operated by the A380 aircraft, has been restored with immediate effect,” according to its latest update via a statement.
It is also stated that based on its current risk assessment, the airline was able to take a shorter route on European flights.
Previously, MAB had imposed a temporary limit on check-in baggage allowance on its European flights starting last night.
It is reported earlier that MAS flights would only accommodate cabin baggage of up to 7kg — one piece totalling 7kg per Economy Class passenger and two pieces totaling 14kg (up to 7kg per piece) for Business and First Class passengers.
The limitation was due to safety reasons as the airline currently operates a longer flight path to Europe which, combined with temporary “unseasonably strong” head winds and weather conditions, limited the airline’s ability to carry baggage in its flight cargo.
