KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31, 2015:
Two locations in the capital will be closed tonight in conjunction with the 2016 New Year celebrations.
Dang Wangi district police chief Zainol Samah said road closures will start at 9pm tonight and will reopen at 8am tomorrow.
The first location involved Jalan Sultan Ismail, starting at the Jalan Imbi intersection (next to Hotel Park Royal) until the Jalan Raja Chulan intersection (next to Hotel Istana).
The other location closed will be at Jalan Bukit Bintang, at the entrance from Jalan Raja Chulan to Jalan Bukit Bintang (next to the Pavilion Mall) until the Jalan Bukit Bintang intersection (next to Pasaraya Lot 10).
The road closure is to facilitate the movement of the large number of people during the celebrations around Kuala Lumpur, he said in a statement here today.
People were advised to come out earlier for the celebrations, to use alternative roads, public transport, to be patient and not to park their vehicles on the side of the road to avoid being summoned or even getting their vehicle towed away.
