KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30, 2015:
Failure to utilise the overhead pedestrian bridge resulted in the death of a Nepali after he was hit by a Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM) Komuter train near the Setia Jaya station heading towards Klang.
In the incident which occurred at about 12.35am, the victim, Gelje Sherpa, 30, was believed to have crossed the railway track to return to his home at the Damai Apartments, near the scene of the accident.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the victim was flung some five metres away following the discovery of slippers belonging to him.
Mohd Zani said the victim who was a security guard died at the scene due to severe head and body injuries.
“Early investigation found that the victim was believed to have used this track to return home before he was hit by a train.
“The body has been sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for a post-mortem,” he said when contacted.
Mohd Zani added that the case has been classified as sudden death.
