KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 27, 2015:
A female teenager has alleged that she was the victim of sexual assault by her former tuition teacher in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, over the past three years since she was 14 years old.
The “victim”, who is now 17, said she had only made a police report on the matter on Dec 18 this year.
The first incident was said to have taken place at the end of a class session in February 2012.
She said the teacher had called her into an empty classroom alone to ask about her studies and she had cried when the conversation touched on her family’s hopes.
“The teacher tried to calm me down and asked me to sit on his lap. When I refused, he pulled me to him and kissed me.
“A month later, he did the same thing and raped me after I attempted to flee.
“I told my friends about the incident, but they did not believe me and said that it was impossible that a teacher would do such a thing.”
The teenager, who declined to be named, spoke to reporters at the Segambut Parliamentary Service Centre here today at a press conference session organised by Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng.
The teacher was said to have repeated the sexual attacks between March and May this year five times.
The teenager added that she was afraid to reveal the matter to her family until recently as she feared the teacher.
She said she only told her father in October this year and made a police report in December as she had wanted to focus on her SPM examination.
Meanwhile, Lim, who was her legal counsel, said the victim had not discounted the possibility that other teenagers had suffered similar attacks but were afraid to come forward to assist the police.
He said several staff members of the tuition centre, including teachers, wanted to help police with the probe.
“We managed to obtain phone numbers of those who may have been victims and have given them to police,” Lim told reporters.
