KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 24, 2015:
Police have arrested two more individuals believed to have been involved in the attack against MIC deputy president Datuk Seri SK Devamany.
Police Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department head Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said both suspects, aged 28 and 29, would be remanded for two days beginning today.
“The arrests were made at 4pm. Meanwhile a line-up would be done tomorrow for the identification process.
“Police will proceed with investigations to determine the motive behind what happened.
“We believe this incident took place out of disappointment over losing at the party’s recent re-election,” he said in a media statement today.
The case was being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal threat.
Previously, police detained two individuals believed to have been involved in attacking Devamany outside the MIC headquarters.
Devamany was also called in to identify them in a line-up.
Both individuals claimed to have been involved. However, investigations could not proceed as remand was not obtained.
However, both were released after the line-up identification process was completed.
In the incident last Thursday, a scuffle broke out in which Devamany was punched by an individual.
