KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23, 2015:
Another lorry carrying bauxite has been burnt by people in Kuantan, Pahang, when frustration over the inaction of the state government to address the problem got the better of them.
According to Sinar Harian, Beserah assemblyman Andansura Rabu said, going by the rage vented by the people, the state government should immediately solve the issue before it got out of hand.
“The government cannot delay this matter any longer and I fear that this will be repeated as this is the sixth incident of this nature.
“On this matter, the government or parties involved must do something so that the people do not have to take matters into their own hands as this can lead to something worse in the future,” he was quoted as saying.
Andansura said the people’s anger was evident after a teacher was killed by the tyre of a bauxite lorry recently.
He said after the incident, people viewed the issue as the state government’s fault for failing to resolve the problem.
He added that he had highlighted the issue many times in the state assembly but nothing was done.
