KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21, 2015:
President of the Malay Armed Forces Veterans Association for Federal Territory and Selangor (PVTM), Mohd Ali Baharom, has been arrested tonight.
Confirming the arrest, KL CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said Mohd Ali was taken into custody at 7pm tonight under Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act.
It is believed that he was detained to facilitate investigations into a recording urging the Malays to rise to scare Chinese traders.
An iPhone6 mobile phone was also confiscated from him to facilitate investigations.
He is now being detained at the Dang Wangi district police station lock-up and a remand would be applied tomorrow under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Meanwhile, earlier today, Mohd Ali, or better known as Ali Tinju, had denied that the group he is part of, Gerakan Merah, had played a part in the Kota Raya Complex brawl yesterday.
Speaking to The Rakyat Post this afternoon, Ali said he never made any statement about going there, to pick a fight or to attack the complex.
He stressed that he did not know anybody who was involved with the brawl and assumed that the incident happened due to misunderstandings between the customer and the shop owner.
He, however, said he would fully cooperate with the police should they call him in for investigation into the matter.
