KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20, 2015:
Motorists travelling along the Federal Highway early this morning were shocked to see a body hanging from the Kota Darul Ehsan arch.
In what was believed to be a suicide, the 53-year-old victim, reportedly a former Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) serviceman was found hanging from the arch at a height of about 30m.
A motorist alerted the police of the discovery at 4.30am today.
The incident also resulted in a traffic jam on the Kuala Lumpur to Petaling Jaya side of the Federal Highway as motorists slowed down to take a look.
Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sharul Othman confirmed the discovery of the body at the side of the arch which is now undergoing repair works.
He said members of the Jalan Pantai Baru Fire and Rescue Department were despatched to the scene to bring the body down.
“Early investigations found no element of foul play involved in the incident. The case has been classified as sudden death,” he said when contacted.
He added that the victim’s body was sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, according to a report by The Star Online, the victim was identified as Asok Kumar Koyamboo.
