KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18, 2015:
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said he was the victim of slander, denying that he tweeted about PAS having received a portion of the RM2.6 billion in an anonymous donation deposited into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s account.
A screenshot of the tweet allegedly posted by the Penang Chief Minister was shared on the social network by one user with the twitter handle @Blindkids and another user @DiaryYB.
The second user shared the screenshot tagging Lim and told him not to be “malicious”.
“Kalau betul pun PAS terima, tak perlu sibuk2 & masuk campur,” tweeted @DiaryYB.
(If it’s true that PAS received, there’s no need to be nosy and interfere).
The screenshot of the tweet showed that it was also accompanied with an image of Najib and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang seated together, taken from the opening ceremony of Multaqa Al-Azhar Malaysia Regional Alumni yesterday, where the two had shared the stage.
Replying to the tweet and the screenshot circulated, Lim said it was fake and indicated he lodged a police report against the user.
“Ini tweet palsu.Saya tak tweet ini. Terlalu banyak fitnah slepas fitnah media BN kerjn negeri akan turunkan Kpg Selut.
“Laporan polis atas penfitnah @DairyYB Saya tak pernah komen PAS mau terima kerjasama Umno kerana bukan hal kami,” he wrote in a series of tweets.
(This is a fake tweet. I did not tweet this. Too much slander after BN media slander that the state government will bring down Kampung Selut.
(Police report against slanderer @DiaryYB. I never commented PAS wanted to accept Umno cooperation because it is not our issue).
On Lim’s first tweet, he was referring to a news report by Bernama on proposed works in Kampung Selut, where it was reported that there were plans to also evict the villagers there.
Penang Mayor Datuk Patahiyah Ismail clarified earlier that the news was fake and that no redevelopment project was approved.
