KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16, 2015:
The presentation of the final report of the Auditor-General on national sovereign fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), scheduled to be held tomorrow, has been postponed as the National Audit Department needed to update certain information.
PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Ariffin said in a statement today that the 1MDB final audit report should be transparent, comprehensive and fair to ensure that the auditing of 1MDB had been carried out as expected by the Parliament and public.
The PAC is a bipartisan committee under the Parliament as a legislative branch comprising MPs from BN, DAP, PKR and PAS.
He said the PAC opined that the National Audit Department should be given sufficient time to preparing the Final Audit Report on 1MDB .
When completed, the Auditor-General will present the report to the PAC.
In the meantime, 1MDB proceedings involving its president and chief executive Arul Kanda Kandasamy will proceed as scheduled on Dec 18.
The PAC will then call in 1MDB chairman Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin within two weeks from Friday.
The full report on 1MDB is expected to be completed by the PAC in March next year.
