KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12, 2015:
MIC vice-president Senator Datuk S.A. Vigneswaran has rubbished claims that a Registrar of Societies (RoS) letter was allegedly drafted by his lawyer, saying it was accidentally taken by him while at the department to give his statement.
Speaking to The Rakyat Post, Vigneswaran said he was at the RoS office on Jan 2 this year to give a statement over his complaints of irregularities in the MIC 2013 polls.
“I was there with my lawyer and we were going through some documents related to the complaints.
“However, the following Monday (Jan 5), I received a call from the RoS officer saying he could not find his handwritten draft of a letter and wanted to know if I had accidentally taken it.”
He said that by then, all the documents and files had been given to his lawyer and after checking with her, the letter was found to be in one of the files.
“I told her to scan it and send it to me, but she told me the scanner was not working and that she would type it out and email me. I then emailed the typed letter to the officer the same day.”
Vigneswaran said he had lodged a police report on this today at the Klang Selatan police district headquarters.
In his report, he said the matter was being used to smear the good name of RoS and MIC and to cause uneasiness.
“I am now leaving it to the police to investigate as the other faction has also lodged reports on this matter.”
Vigneswaran stressed he was unperturbed about the allegations as there was no conspiracy as was being alleged.
He urged the other faction to lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and to file judicial reviews.
“I am not afraid as I have not done anything wrong. Please do whatever you feel necessary but return to the party fold and work together again.”
He also believed that some people were instigating this matter so as to use it as a bargaining chip to secure positions in the party when the time came to reunite.
