KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8, 2015:
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has maintained that he did not come down hard on party deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and even suggested that the latter might be “power crazy”.
“I already said don’t cross the line. Matters of the party should not be taken outside.
“At the end, want my president to quit, PM to quit, that is crazy.
“I also don’t understand, maybe (he is) power crazy,” Tengku Adnan told reporters after the officiation of the Adinda initiative by Puteri Umno at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.
“At the end he said he wants Najib (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak) to resign.”
When asked whether this could mean that Muhyiddin could be sacked, he said it was up to the party’s disciplinary committee.
The matter, which includes Muhyiddin’s speech yesterday calling for Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak to resign, was sent to the committee for further action.
“I do not know, he could lose his position depending on what disciplinary board decides. I do not know, maybe that’s what they want.”
Last night, at an event at the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kampung Baru here, Muhyiddin called for Najib to take a “break” pending the investigation into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the RM2.6 billion political donation.
He was joined at the event by former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.
