KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3, 2015:
Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar’s speech on the motion to bring her before the rights and privileges committee has been criticised for its alleged pretentious nature.
Barisan Nasional’s Tenom Member of Parliament Datuk Raime Unggi said this was because the photograph of her and self-styled Sulu princess Jacel Kiram gave a different impression.
“We can see that the matter she discussed was feigned. As we all know, pictures of the Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament and Jacel went viral.
“She (Nurul) was cheerful in posing with Jacel Kiram with the ‘Free Anwar’ poster which showed that she had little respect for the people of Sabah.
“Obviously, she does not have the patriotic spirit or sense of love for the country. She betrayed our nation,” he said when debating the motion.
Nurul Izzah, when debating, apologised to the families of the victims of the Lahad Datu incursion after the picture of the meeting became widespread.
“I very much regret the matter and apologise, especially to the families of all the victims in Lahad Datu, Sabah and the Malaysian people as a whole who were angered by the image,” she said.
