KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2, 2015:
Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail admitted that the efforts made by the Opposition to reject the 2016 Supply bill was in vain.
The Permatang Pauh member of Parliament said the matter was actually never discussed.
“We didn’t discuss about rejecting it. So if not many are present, we figured it would be pointless, so we focused on other issues.
“We know we will fail, we have tried. Our numbers are not enough,” she said when met by reporters at the Parliament lobby here, today.
The 2016 Supply bill amounting to RM267.2 billion was approved in Parliament yesterday without amendment.
Deputy Speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee decided on the matter after it was read for the third time.
The motion was made under the Finance Ministry, moved by Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Husni Hanadzlah.
When the vote was called for, the number of Opposition representatives in Parliament numbered below 30, while there were more than 80 Barisan Nasional (BN) representatives present.
