KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29, 2015:
Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) today welcomed the statement by PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali calling for one-on-one contests in the 14th General Election (GE14) as it is seen as the best approach to defeat Umno and Barisan Nasional.
Amanah communications director Khalid Abdul Samad said the party also proposed an agreement for opposition parties not to privately negotiate with the Umno or BN if they win to ensure the victory is seen as the result of joint efforts.
“As everyone knows, even though one-on-one was agreed upon during the 13th General Election, especially in the Peninsula, but there are those who disobeyed what had been agreed upon.As a result, the BN candidates won in those seats.
“With this, other than the one-on-one agreement, there should also be an agreement not to negotiate after a win, then any efforts in that direction would be considered as an obvious betrayal.”
”At the same time, Amanah also objected to the use of PKR by Pas in the latter’s efforts to prevent Amanah from continuing to contest in the next general election.
“Pas should be made to understand that Amanah has the right to contest anywhere. Amanah is with Paktan Harapan not because it could not be alone but because it is aware of the responsibility to the people in order to topple Umno/BN.
“The people must be reassured that only Pakatan Harapan is the best alternative to replace Umno and BN in the general election soon,” he said.
