KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25, 2015:
Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar is weighing her legal options against those who have alleged that she “betrayed” the country following her meeting with self-styled Sulu Sultanate princess Jacel Kiram.
The allegations surfaced after pictures of her with the princess went viral last week.
According to The Star Online, the PKR vice-president is currently discussing the matter with her legal team to decide on the actions against the individuals.
She was referring to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who have compared her actions to treason.
In an earlier statement, Nurul Izzah said she and fellow PKR vice-president Tian Chua were in the Philippines on Nov 9 to meet with stakeholders there.
She said leaders from civil society, as well as Jacel, were among those who were present at the event.
Photos, shared by Jacel on her Facebook page, of Nurul Izzah and Jacel, holding red posters with “Release Anwar Immediately” printed on them, went viral last week and caused an uproar on social media.
