PUTRAJAYA, Nov 22, 2015:
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today dismissed speculation over the Umno Supreme Council meeting set for Nov 24, saying it was orchestrated apparently to cause disunity in the party.
He dismissed an allegation that the meeting was brought forward by three days from Nov 27 because party deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and vice-president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal were reportedly abroad.
“All (council members) have been notified of the date of the meeting.
“The meeting has been brought forward to give ample time to prepare for the Umno General Assembly from Dec 8 to 12,” he told reporters after a mass circumcision ceremony here.
On the investigation being conducted by the Umno disciplinary board on several party leaders, Tengku Adnan, who is the Federal Territories minister, said the report of the probe would be handed to the council for a decision.
“It is left to the Supreme Council to take action or otherwise … that’re only rumours going around.”
