The Peace Corp Volunteers programme in the United States provide opportunities for youths to participate in charitable activities abroad.
Regional director for Asia, Europe and the Middle East/North Africa Keri Lowry said that they always gave an opportunity to young people to carry out charitable activities.
“We have always provided an opportunity for youths in Asean to contribute in countries which are in need of welfare aid from education, facilities support and manpower aspects,” she told reporters after signing a memorandum of understanding between the Peace Corp and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The program named MyCorp was especially for Malaysian youths.
According to Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, the ministry had so far received 1,000 applications for the first batch to Cambodia next week.
“We need similar programmes in the country, not only for activities abroad.
“Next week, the first 100 participants will fly to a village in Cambodia to build toilet facilities,” he said.
