WHO will run along the beach in a red swimsuit alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in the movie remake of the famous Baywatch series?
Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures has a shortlist of seven American actresses, including Nina Dobrev and Alexandra Daddario.
Free from any contract ties since the spring, Dobrevn the former Vampire Diaries star now has time to focus on the big screen.
But replacing Pamela Anderson in the role of the Malibu nymph will not be an easy task.
The production has apparently also got its eye on Alexandra Daddario, who appeared in Percy Jackson and was recently seen with Dwayne Johnson in San Andreas.
Ashley Benson of Pretty Little Liars is also said to be under consideration, along with Alexandra Shipp, who was seen in N.W.A Straight Outta Compton and has a role in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, as well as Shelley Hennig (Teen Wolf), Bianca Santos (Ouija) and the singer Denyse Tontz.
Deadline says that other names could emerge before the film begins shooting in February and that some on the shortlist could end up with a smaller role.
The remake of Baywatch will be about a team of lifeguards led by two stubborn men played by Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
These diametrically opposed characters — one serious and the other a hothead — will have to work together to save their beach from an ecological disaster caused by an oil businessman.
Seth Gordon, who worked on the comedy Horrible Bosses, will begin directing Baywatch next February.
Having tested around a dozen scriptwriters, Paramount thinks it has found the right formula by drawing inspiration from the movie adaptation of another cult series, 21 Jump Street, which combined action and humor.
