KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12, 2015:

The meeting between Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) Mohamed Azmin Ali with Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) leaders today was to discuss the strengthening of the state administration, not to claim executive council (Exco) seats in the state.

Amanah communications director Khalid Abdul Samad says the meeting was focused on efforts to decrease disputes between parties within the state government in order to ensure that the relationship was maintained ahead of the next general election (GE).

He said that the issue of Amanah requesting Exco seats was not brought up during the discussions as it was not the main agenda of the meeting.

“Requesting Exco seats in the Selangor state government was not even raised.

“We did not ask for Exco positions and it was not the purpose of the meeting,” he said when contacted by The Rakyat Post for comments on the meeting between Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and Mohamed Azmin, which took place fron 8.45am till 10am this morning.

Also attending the discussion were Amanah secretary-general Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir, Amanah strategic director Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad as well as Khalid himself.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Azmin’s political secretary Shuhaimi Shafiei mentioned that the visit, led by Mohamad Sabu, was a show of support for the Menteri Besar’s leadership

“The MB appreciates Amanah’s full support for Mohamed Azmin which was clearly stated by the Amanah president during the meeting

“The discussion also involved matters regarding the current administration of the state government. A number of strategies on winning the upcoming GE14 were also deliberated and are under way.”
