KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7, 2015:
Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin Malaysia president Ramesh Rao Krishnan Naidu today claimed that he saw genuine documents belonging to the troubled 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
According to The Star Online, Ramesh claimed that he was granted access to the “untampered” documents through Worrasit Piriyawiboon, the lawyer of former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo.
“We are not making this up. We have seen the original documents and the tampered ones as published (in several reports),” he was quoted as saying today.
Ramesh claimed the tampering involved dates, names, and properties, among others, but could not reveal more details.
The documents, he said, were part of Justo’s lawyer’s appeal affidavit.
Ramesh said this came following a three-day visit to Bangkok, Thailand with legal counsel Zakwan Hafiz Ahmad Ansari last week, a self-taken initiative to “assist the Malaysian police in their investigation”.
The Star‘s report stated that based on the meeting with Worrasit, Ramesh said he was told that Justo was “100% willing” to meet with Malaysian police.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar on Oct 23 said a team of police officers from Bukit Aman would be sent to Thailand to record a statement from Justo, who is now serving a sentence for attempted extortion.
However, Ramesh said he took the initiative as there had yet to be any updates on the developments.
