KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4, 2015:
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has confirmed that the former communications head of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s national communications team is a Malaysian permanent resident (PR).
In a written reply, Zahid said that Paul Stadlen’s PR status was verified by the Immigration Department.
“For everyone’s information, the immigration records show that Paul Stadlen has a Malaysian PR status.
“Therefore he is free to work in the country without a permit from the Immigration Department.”
Zahid was answering a question by Kelana Jaya Member of Parliament Wong Chen who asked the Home Ministry if Stadlen had a work permit to work in the country.
Stadlen’s presence in the country had courted controversy.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim had also revealed that Stadlen had never received any salary from the government as of April 2014.
The issue was raised when former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad berated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for getting the services of a “British officer” to work with the government.
