KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21, 2015:
Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said has resubmitted her application to seek the suspension of DAP parliamentary leader and Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang — several hours after withdrawing a similar notice she submitted earlier today.
PKR Subang Member of Parliament R. Sivarasa said the new notice was submitted to Parliament about 6pm today.
Earlier, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia had asked Azalina, who is also the MP for Pengerang, to retract the motion after a commotion broke out on the third day of Dewan Rakyat sitting.
The commotion came about after the Speaker had warned Lim to unconditionally apologise and retract a statement, made previously, accusing the Speaker of being a dictator who sabotaged investigations into state-owned investment firm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Azalina had made the latest submission after Lim failed to make the apology.
Lim did not appear to be present in Dewan Rakyat about 6.30pm.
Lim’s statement, made on Monday, according to Pandikar, was that the latter had deliberately impeded meetings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), which was probing the Finance Ministry-owed company.
