KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19, 2015:
Subang Member of Parliament Sivarasa Rasiah was upbeat despite the fact that he would be charged tomorrow, under section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948, for his speech at the #KitaLawan rally held on March 7, 2015.
He said the charge will not stop opposition leaders from continuing to speak out.
“These charges were obvious exercises to intimidate, where they tell us they will put us in jail or disqualify us.
“This won’t stop us because we have been elected to speak up for the rakyat and that is what we will always do,” he told The Rakyat Post when met at Parliament grounds today.
He said if he had to go to jail for speaking out, “that’s the sacrifice he had to make”.
“So be it if that is the sacrifice we have to make.”
Sivarasa, during the rally, had asked for the release of then opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He will be charged at Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, Jalan Duta Court Complex, at 9am.
