KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5, 2015:
Umno secretary general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor says the party is keeping an eye on seven leaders and investigation papers would be sent to the disciplinary board for action if need be.
He said this when asked to comment on remarks by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad of late that might be considered “seditious”.
However, speaking on the former premier specifically, Tengku Adnan said the remarks by Dr Mahathir on the need for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Nazib Razak to be removed were the elder statesman’s personal view.
“Today, I heard that on Chedet’s (Dr Mahathir’s blog) website, he started attacking me. It’s okay. I will carry on my role (as party secretary-general).
“Eventually, we will know which is right and wrong,” he told reporters after a ceremony in Kepong here.
Speaking on Umno member Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah’s reply to a show cause letter, without elaborating, the Federal Territories Minister said Saifuddin had just questioned Tengku Adnan in turn.
“I said never mind. I’ve sent the letter to my lawyers and I will send it to the disciplinary board. Its not my job to fire him.
“We question him, he questions us back. Crazy or not?” asked Tengku Adnan.
He also chided former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik for the latter’s recent comments on the need for Najib to step down.
“(Dr) Liong thinks it will weaken Najib. In my view, no, it will strengthen (Najib).
“We don’t want outsiders to interfere. Enough. We know how to solve problems.”
