KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2, 2015:
Racial problems must be stopped so that we can avoid any ethnic cleansing in the country, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid said even though most of the time these racists were from a small group, they still could threaten national security if they were not dealt with in the early stage.
“Racism to me is only among a small group but matters of militancy, radicalism and extremism are the wider effects of it.
“We are worried that if this racism is not nipped in the bud early then there will be ethnic cleansing just like in other countries,” he said in a press conference after chairing the Special Asean Ministerial Meeting on the Rise of Radicalisation and Violent Extremism here today.
He said he hoped the matter would be dealt with early with the help of other countries.
“We hope the leaders of Asean are committed to avoid not just racism but also terrorism, militancy and radicalism. We have to make sure it does not happen anywhere around the world.”
