JOHOR BARU, Sept 20, 2015:
The Pasir Gudang MCA will have a divisional meeting tomorrow afternoon to look into the issue of its youth wing’s stance on breaking ties with Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
It is learnt that the stance by the division’s youth wing had created uneasiness within MCA as it is the first of any BN component party to have issued such a statement.
The statement, by the division’s youth chief Cia Chow Hui, had also been circulated widely among MCA leaders in Johor.
Pasir Gudang MCA division chief Tan Cher Puk said he was aware of the statement made by Cia, who represented the division’s youth wing.
“I don’t know what transpired, but rest assured our MCA division will discuss and look into the matter at the divisional meeting tomorrow.
“We (Pasir Gudang MCA) can only give a statement after the meeting,” he told The Rakyat Post today.
Today, the Pasir Gudang MCA Youth was reported by news portal Malaysiakinito have broken ties with Najib, following his support for the red shirt Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu on Sept 16 in Kuala Lumpur.
Cia claimed the red shirt rally on Sept 16 had destroyed racial harmony and disagreed with Najib, who had described the rally as peaceful.
Meanwhile, Gelang Patah MCA chief Jason Teoh Sew Hock said he had heard about the statement made by Cia today, but could not verify its authenticity.
“I just got back from Sabah and the alleged statement by Cai was in my WhatsApp group.
“I’m sorry as I can’t verify the matter and I need more details.”
Teoh, who is also MCA Public Complaints Bureau chief, said the issue was best handled by the Pasir Gudang MCA division committee as Cai is with the division.
