KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20, 2015:

Launching a salvo against DAP’s Tony Pua, Kota Belud Member of Parliament Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan today said DAP was to be blamed for the water woes in his constituency.

Earlier today, Pua had shared the link to an online article about the problems in Kota Belud, despite the constituency having produced two federal ministers.

“What a shame, MP Kota Belud… 2 Federal Ministers but nothing to show…,” Pua said in sharing the link.

The article by The Malaysian Insider claimed that despite two federal ministers from Kota Belud at present, namely Abdul Rahman and Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak, the place remained a ”cowboy town”.

The prevailing complaint by residents, according to the report, was that villagers did not have proper access to water.

This led Abdul Rahman to retaliate on Twitter, asking the DAP MP to not blame Barisan Nasional (BN) for water problems in Kota Belud.

“If you did your homework, then you know it was the DAP to blame,” Abdul Rahman tweeted.

The Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister said BN had proposed a dam in 2009 to solve the water problems in the area.

Abdul Rahman said the dam could serve as a solution for the next 50 years, as well as irrigate rice fields.

“DAP opposed the dam which could solve Kota Belud’s water problem once and for all,” he said, adding that the dam could have also tripled rice production and improved the income of farmers.

“But no, DAP had to oppose it!” Abdul Rahman added.

“Dam was meant to solve floods & water supply, irrigation, generate electricity, create tourist attraction. Even wt all these benefits, irresponsible DAP leaders consistently opposed it. For what? Politics!” he further tweeted.

He then pointed out that the ”same DAP leaders” agreed to a new dam in Penang, which he said was for the same reasons why his constituency needed one.

“So don’t try to shift the blame. People of KBELUD will never forgive your party for being hypocrite.”

The string of tweets by Abdul Rahman had yet to elicit a response from Pua.
