KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15, 2015:
Abdul Rani Kulup has urged the authorities, including the police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to catch those who upload images and statuses on social media that disrupt public order.
The Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM) president said this after he lodged several reports on such matters, including one against controversial blogger Alvin Tan, who insulted Allah in a recent Facebook post following the crane tragedy in Mecca which claimed over 100 lives.
“He wrote foul words about Allah on social media. This cannot be forgiven!
“I urge Jakim to release a statement that Alvin is the head of deviant religious teachings.
“I urge Malaysian students who are overseas to help nab Alvin and bring him back to Malaysia,” he told reporters outside the Dang Wangi station.
Similarly, Abdul Rani also urged the authorities to catch those individuals who were involved in uploading images of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak that were fabricated to look like a pig.
“This is rude and impudent. I urge MCMC to take action against these irresponsible individuals.”
Another police report lodged was against an individual by the name of Alerta Alerta Antifasista whose status insulted the Sultan of Johor. It was accompanied with an image.
There was also an individual who claimed to be a police officer who uploaded a status that lashed out at the credibility of the police force and compared the duties of an army and police officer.
“This is seen as a deliberate attempt to pit the police and army officers against each other when they actually have a good relationship.
“I urge the police to investigate the authenticity of the status uploaded by these individuals.”
Meanwhile, when asked about the Red Shirt rally set to take place tomorrow (Sept 16), Abdul Rani said MJMM would also partake in the assembly to show support.
“We will go down to the rally tomorrow because we support those who are right and follow the rules.
“I advise participants of the assembly tomorrow to behave and not repeat what was done by Bersih 4 participants.”
