KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6, 2015:
MCA today vehemently rejected the‘Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu’ dubbed by many as “anti-Lowyat” rally, scheduled to be held soon in the capital.
MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the rally could threaten the nation’s peace and harmony.
“Therefore, we want the authorities to investigate the rally for safety reasons.
“We are worried that the rally will spoil racial unity. It is not easy to build it, but within a day it could collapse,” he told reporters after opening the Federal Territory MCA Annual Convention at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Wangsa Maju here.
According to media reports the rally, scheduled to be held on Sept 16 and Oct 10 at Bukit Bintang and Petaling Street, is in response to the recent Bersih 4 illegal rally.
