Langkawi Umno member Anina Saadudin has her party membership terminated following her decision to file a lawsuit against party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
According to Langkawi Umno chief Datuk Nawawi Ahmad, he said her membership was automatically terminated following her actions.
“The decision was taken by the Umno headquarters following her decision to take party matters to court,” he told The Rakyat Post when contacted, today.
He added that Aninah’s termination letter was dated Sept 2, 2015.
The 40-year-old, who was a member of the party’s Kampung Padang Mat Sirat branch, had filed a suit against Najib on Aug 28, over the controversial RM2.6 billion donation.
She filed the civil suit in her capacity as an Umno member and also on behalf of the ruling party through Messrs Haniff Khatri.
In the statement of claim, which also named Umno executive secretary Datuk Abdul Rauf Yusof as the defendant, she sought a repayment of a sum of US$650 million sent out by Najib into a Singapore bank account that did not belong to Umno.
In the 10-page document, Anina sought for an injunction order against the defendants whether by themselves or through others within the disciplinary board of Umno, the Umno Supreme Council, State Liaison Body, divisions and branches be restrained from removing, suspending and taking disciplinary action against her as an Umno member pending the disposal of the suit.
She had recently made headlines following a clip of her criticising the Prime Minister at the Langkawi Umno division meeting.
The clip made its round on the social media showing the vocal Wanita Umno leader criticising Najib for claiming he had support from three million Umno members while embroiled in the RM2.6 billion donation scandal.
