KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28, 2015:

The air quality in most areas in the country is moderate as at 9 am today.

According to the Department of Environment’s (DOE) website, 37 areas recorded moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings while the API reading in 11 other areas was good.

The moderate API reading was recorded, among others, in Batu Muda (64) and Cheras (56), both in Kuala Lumpur, and in Putrajaya (60).

The areas with moderate API in Selangor included Banting (65), Kuala Selangor (73), Port Klang (83), Petaling Jaya (61) and Shah Alam (71).

Most areas in Johor, Kedah, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Penang, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak also saw moderate API readings.

An API reading of between 0 and 50 is good; 51 and 100 (moderate); 101 and 200 (unhealthy); 201 and 300 (very unhealthy); and more than 301 (hazardous).
