KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25, 2015:
Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAS) has appointed Charles D. McKee as head of marketing from Sept 14, the national carrier announced today.
For this very important role that will drive the revenue potential of the airline now being restructured towards profitability, McKee was previously “responsible for repositioning the Delta Hotels and Resorts brand”, said MAS in a statement.
It said McKee has 27 years of experience in marketing and managing world-class travel brands – including as chief marketing and other commercial leadership roles at Air Canada, the Canadian Tourism Commission, lastminute.com and Virgin Atlantic Airways.
MAS also appointed Nik Azli Abu Zahar as executive counsel with effect from Nov 1, to assist in setting up a streamlined approach to managing, negotiating and entering into contracts with the diverse range of the airline’s business partners.
He has over 19 years of experience in the legal and management fields, previously as general counsel for SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd and served formerly as head of legal in Sime Darby, Energy & Utilities Division (2010 – 2011) plus being legal assistant and partner at Zul Rafique and Partners (2004 – 2010).
“Both individuals bring with them a wealth of experience that will contribute to Malaysia Airlines’ recognition as one of the world’s leading airlines,” said MAS chief executive officer-designate Christoph Mueller said.
